Under general anaesthetic, breast implants are placed and the breast tissue reshaped. The combination of incisions typically includes inframammary (in the fold), around the areola and vertically (straight down the front of the breast between the fold and the nipple). The procedure takes 2-3 hours, and the incisions are closed with absorbable sutures.
Dressings and supportive garments are then applied.
Recovery
Post-operative care instructions are provided, covering incision care, pain management, and activity restrictions.
You can expect swelling and bruising that gradually subsides. You’re advised to avoid strenuous activities for six weeks and to wear a support bra for that period.
