Procedure

A thigh lift procedure typically involves:

  • Anaesthesia: A thigh lift is performed under a general and/or local anaesthetic to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the procedure.
  • Incision: The incisions are placed in the groin and along the inner thigh, or outer thigh, depending on your needs. The length and location of the incisions will vary depending on the location and the amount of excess skin and fat that needs to be removed.
  • Removal of excess tissue: The excess skin and fat from the thighs is removed  either by direct excision or a combination of excision and liposuction. This involves using a cannula (a small tube) to suction out the fat.
  • Closure: The incisions are closed with sutures that are usually dissolvable.
  • Dressings and Compression garments: Dressings are applied to the incisions and compression garments are worn.

The exact details of the thigh lift procedure will vary depending on your individual needs.

Recovery

After surgery, you’ll need to rest for a few days and avoid strenuous activities for six weeks. Compression garments help reduce swelling and assist with achieving the desired contour.
Most patients can return to work within seven to ten days. During the recovery process, it is important to follow the aftercare instructions carefully to minimize the risk of complications and ensure optimal results. This will include stopping smoking, taking medication as prescribed, and attending follow-up appointments. It may take up to six months for the final results to become visible.

Mr Hyder Ridha - Procedure FAQ

FAQs

What is the best procedure to reduce the size of thighs and remove excess skin?

The best procedure is a thigh lift. It involves surgically removing excess skin, and fat from the inner and/or outer thighs to create a smoother, more contoured shape. This can be combined with liposuction to further reduce fat and create a more sculpted look.

What is an outer thigh lift vs an inner thigh lift?

An outer thigh lift and an inner thigh lift are two different surgical procedures designed to improve the appearance of the thighs.
An outer thigh lift, also known as a lateral thigh lift, targets the outer thigh area; the area of the thigh that runs from the hip to the knee along the outer side of the leg. Excess skin and fat are removed from the outer thigh area to create a more toned and contoured appearance.
An inner thigh lift, targets the inner thigh area; the area of the thigh that runs from the groin to the knee along the inner side of the leg. During this procedure, excess skin and fat are removed from the inner thigh area to create a smoother and more toned appearance. It’s possible to have a thigh lift for the whole thigh.

Is Thighplasty the same as a thigh lift?

Yes, they’re the same surgical procedure.

How long does Thighplasty last?

Results vary from person to person, but can last from five to ten years. Further weight changes and smoking can influence results as well as factors such as genetics and natural ageing.

How painful is Thighplasty?

Thighplasty can be associated with discomfort and pain, particularly during the first few days after surgery, but this can be managed with medication and good post-operative care.
