Losing a significant amount of weight is a great achievement, but some people are disappointed that after all that effort, they still have loose, sagging skin on their legs/thighs. You may find that the loose skin cause your thighs to rub together, which can cause uncomfortable chafing. It’s possible to firm up your thighs with exercises, but it’s difficult to do much about loose sagging skin without surgery.
Common Causes
As we get older, the levels of collagen and elastin in our skin naturally depletes, so our skin looks less taut. In addition, if we lose a significant amount of weight, skin that has stretched to accommodate the weight doesn’t spring back in the same way, leaving sagging skin as a result. This can leave us with loose or sagging skin on our legs and thighs, that isn’t aesthetically appealing.
What can I do about my loose/excess thigh/leg skin?
If you’re concerned about the appearance of the loose sagging skin on your legs or thighs, you may consider quantum tightening which uses bipolar radiofrequency to tighten the soft tissue and skin in the thighs.
More extensive loose skin will need to be addressed surgically by means of a thigh lift. Thigh lift surgery involves removing excess skin and fat to give the legs a more youthful, contoured look. The contouring can stop thighs rubbing together which often causes uncomfortable chafing.
