Facelift (Rhytidectomy)

As we age the skin and soft tissues of our face begin to lose their elasticity and tone resulting in the formation of wrinkles, deepening of the folds, loss of our jawline and neck contour, creating an aged look. Contributing factors include our genetics, sun exposure and smoking.

A facelift restores a youthful appearance by rejuvenating the face, jawline and neck contour as well as diminishing fine lines and folds.

An incision is made in the creases in front and behind the ear. The underlying facial muscle layer known as the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system), is tightened and lifted to restore volume and facial contour. Any excess skin is then removed and the incisions are closed leaving a well-hidden scar.

In cases where there is mild laxity and soft tissue redundancy, then variations such as a ‘mini’ or ‘short scar’ facelift can be performed following the same principles.

Mr Ridha will carry out a detailed assessment of your face, taking great care to ensure that he recommends the treatment most appropriate for your facial structure and degree of laxity. He will ensure that your facelift is personalised to create your desired look. His aim is to revitalise as well as refresh your appearance whilst retaining the natural character of your face.
